APR is getting some bad publicity in the Audi/VW forums for their hardware. I hope this isn't reflected on their tunes as well.

We just did a Eurodyne flash on a 2015 GTI today, the customer called back after and said "This thing is F*&ing mental, the car feels like a supercar". We didn't get a chance to dyno it, but it will be back for some other goodies.

That exhaust thread is not looking good for APR.....

apr recently was going bankrupt i think? they spent too much money on planes and r8 race cars they totalled lol, i think new bosses are focusing solely on tuning now... the golf7 tunes are looking really good, vw must have left lots of head room

edit: oh man that rsc stuff is entertaining! on the ttrs nothing beats the factory sport exhaust!!!

advertising this http://i.imgur.com/YoknCcC.png selling this hahaha ouch http://i.imgur.com/xoFAHzm.jpg

i caught them in a lie once about a tune, i saved the old graphs, new tune was less power i think, they said no, i overlayed both, they said old one used different scale on the Y axis lol fail

I think the mk7 R/GTI needs a year to mature - so many blown turbo threads... What's worse is that most of us would go stage 1 within the first month of owning the car. Add a factory faulty turbo with an aftermarket tune = no win for the consumer..

ohrly? i assume vw put on bigger turbos this time around or something? or are tuners going too crazy? post links to blown turbos...

Yeah. I wanted to tune mine but I think I'll wait for the dust to settle. Although REVO is having a sale so I might bug Colin.

All of the tuned turbo failures have been APR Stage 1. No one has reported a turbo failure with other tunes. I wonder if their torque boost is too high. I know they've had to release a patch for their first tune because it was causing some issues with some DSGs.

                          Re: APR MK7 Golf R

Along with the modified ECU GTIs/Rs, the stock tune mk7 turbos are also failing. VW issued a recall on a specific turbo:
                          http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showth...?t=4780&page=9

And a vague thread regarding the recall:
                          http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5092

                          short video:
                          https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8U5NT_ll_eg

Is this going to stop many people from buying the fresh new mk7? Probably not. But until the turbo issues are resolved and to avoid any hassle from VW - I'd think twice before applying the ECU tune.

I've researched it. They switched to IHI turbos as a supplier for the MK7. They are now on their 3rd or 4th revision of turbos. Most of the failures stock or tuned was pretty low mileage. You can check what revision turbo you have with a mirror or by taking a oil of the turbo housing as it's hard to see on the firewall side.
