Re: Golf Sportwagen 4Motion and Golf Alltrak coming to North America

Volkswagen has introduced the 2017 Golf SportWagen Alltrack at the New York Auto Show.

The model first debuted at last year’s Paris Motor Show and it's now getting ready for a US arrival as Volkswagen has announced the Golf SportWagen Alltrack will be available starting next year as a 2017MY. Just like its European sibling, the rugged Golf wagon has a 20mm increased ride height, plastic body cladding as well as aluminum protection plates.

Volkswagen of America hasn't disclosed which engines will be offered for the model but they did say it will come with a standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with latest Haldex coupling. We remind you the Euro-spec model is powered by a 1.8 TSI with 180 HP & 280 Nm and three diesels: 1.6 TDI with 110 HP & 250 Nm, 2.0 TDI with 150 HP & 340 Nm and 2.0 TDI with 184 HP & 380 Nm.

VW Canada press release is out!

            http://media.vw.ca/article_display.cfm?article_id=10544

Short version: 1.8T engine, Tiptronic or 6-speed manual in the All-Track. I suspect the GSW 4Motion will get the same options, but nothing official yet as far as I can tell.

2017 Volkswagen All-Track Sportwagon Makes Canadian Debut
            ---
            Montréal Autoshow Features All-Wheel-Drive Wagon
MONTRÉAL, PQ – January 14, 2016 –– After last year’s launch of the award-winning Golf
Sportwagon at the annual winter event, Volkswagen Canada again chose the Montréal Autoshow to feature the latest version of this versatile wagon. This time, the focus is just as much on the drivetrain as the look of the vehicle.

The All-Track Sportwagon will mark the first appearance of Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheeldrive on the popular wagon. This system utilizes a haldex-coupling to move power front to rear as required, and guarantees excellent traction even in the worst of conditions.

Arriving this summer as a 2017 model, the All-Track will be powered by a 170 horsepower turbocharged and direct injected engine. Initial orders will feature an automatic transmission, and a six-speed manual gearbox will join the lineup before the end of the year.

A higher suspension, unique bumpers and front grille and 18” “Canyon” alloy wheels will make a striking exterior impression.

Inside, driver and passengers alike will be treated to a similarly unique experience, with AllTrack specific trim and badging, along with driver profile selection.

The All-Track will be remarkably well equipped, featuring:
- “App-Connect” smartphone integration with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link
            - Ambient interior LED lighting
- Climatronic dual-zone electronic climate control
- A 6.3” touchscreen infotainment system with CD, USB and SiriusXM satellite radio
            - Panoramic glass sunroof
            - Rain-sensing wipers
            - Chrome roof rails
- Keyless access with push button start
            - Leather sports seats

Also available will be a technology package featuring adaptive cruise control, navigation, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist and park distance control. Bi-Xenon headlights and a Fender premium audio system are also available.

With a low center of gravity, the All-Track Sportwagon will provide a unique alternative to more cumbersome sport utility vehicles. Its combination of interior volume, driving characteristics and sporty good looks will surely make it a favourite on Canadian roads.

The All-Track will arrive this summer at Dealerships and pricing will be announced closer to that date.

For fans of the regular Golf Sportwagon, the option of 4MOTION all-wheel-drive will also be available on 2017 model year cars in non-All-Track trim.
The order guide is also out: http://media.vw.ca/article_display.cfm?article_id=10547

Forgive my ignorance, but have VW or Audi ever brought an AWD, Diesel with a manual to North America?

agreed. I think its a hail mary to think that we will even get the gas 1.8 with manual 4mo.

Does anyone think that the 1.8 may be a tad sluggish especially when full of luggage/passengers?
