  • Mooing N75. Problem?

My N75 moos/farts/quacks pretty loud when releases the vacuum from the VNT. I discovered this while trying to find the source of a limp mode incedent. Is that normal, or a sign of it not working optimally?? Seems like air is not moo-ving freely.

If its the one with the metal collar at the top...peel it off and see if the diaphragm is moving and sealing properly.

I tested it with a mityvac and 12v leads to battery. It seems to work, but its quite loud when it lets off on the vacuum to the vnt. This makes me think its not releasing as quick as it should as there is a lot of resistance to make a the duck call noise.

I figured you had tested it...but if there is anything between the diaphragm and seal, it'll cause noise...that's what happened in my TDI.

Its possible. I would think if that were the case, it would either need a swap or a clean though. Air moving through a vibrating diaphragm is going to be massivly restricted, no? Does a brand new one make a bunch of noise, or just hiss and let air through?

After I pulled the collar off And cleaned it, it worked perfectly...I did however get the updated N75 from TuneDub, and don't hear a thing from it.

Aight, that's pretty much what I want to know. I tested everything I know how to test, and the n75 is the only thing I came up with that was suspicious. Its clearly not working 100%.

I only got the limp mode once, and couldn't replicate it, but something caused it! I will take my chances and swap the n75 I think. I believe I have enough of a reason.

Can't be a bad thing to change it, VW put out an updated one 2-3 years as go....let me know how it goes.

                  Swapped it out.

Was going to get it from Natty. He had a pretty good price on it, but the day got away and never got back to him. Wanted to get it in the car before I left for BC so I scooped one elsewhere for too much money. Damn my disorganization!

Oh really? I think I paid 80$ at TuneDub. Hopefully it wasn't much more...
