As Simon says, the dimmer switch is the slidey dealy to the left of the turny light switch. There are three wires going to the dimmer switch. Tap into the two outside wires. It really doesn't matter which wire goes to where, because you can just flip the LED around at the gauge. I used some of these quick spice connectors to tap into each wire. Works great and easy to use.
You guys aren't actually using those are you?? I'm not trying to be an ass, but 25Gs of a car, and you skimp on the electrical?? It only takes a minute to solder and heat shrink...

Why? It's not exactly a high performance part where failure meant your vehicle was gonna blow up. It's an LED.

Thanks to everyone for their help, I'm happy to say the gauge is finally in and works perfectly. Eventhough it took me way longer than expected and a hell of a lot of swearing it is a great mod.
