  • Looking at getting a furniture mover aka wagon. Suggestions?

I have to have a working car in the next week and since I need a furniture mover in the next 1-2 months I figured a maybe wagon was the way to go. I want something I can pick up for cheap so looking in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

Only going to keep it for a few months or until the end of winter then get something else.

I found a 1999 all road v6, a 2004 ford focus wagon, and a 2001 passat wagon 1.8t so far. What are the pros and cons of the various models out there? Any recommendations?

Get a VW Caddy, it has pretty good hauling capacity

I've got a b5 passat wagon it's been pretty good I bought it needing some work and after that it's been a solid car as my dog hauler.
My brother in law has a 2004 all road 2.7 6mt and it's a great car. Really I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the listed cars.

Also consider Volvos and the Mazda 6 and the BMW 5-series.

I just picked up a 2004 A4 Avant this last weekend. It's got the 3.0 and 6 speed. I love the car so far and its got a ton of space.

Have a mazda5 with manual tranny. Actually quite functional. Bodys suck though and tend to rust early. Definatly leave it home and take the Passat wagon if we ever go anywhere though. No comparison on ride quality.

I had a Focus wagon for a year and it was actually a really reliable car plus lots of space. For a $1500 car I couldn't go wrong plus parts are cheap and lots of them in the wreckers locally. Food for thought
