I'm looking into buying a 2003 jetta 1.8t, the owner says that the car has a stage 1 tune on it but i want to know the manufacture, how do i find that out because he dosen't know because the owner before him did it. all he told me is that it was done at a show in the north. anyway i could find out if it unitronic or apr or anything else?

There is only one way to find out. Take your VIN and start calling tuning companies to see if they have your VIN on file. Check APR, Unitronic, GIAC, Eurodyne, REVO, GTS, United Motorsport, and if they don't have you on file you are out of luck.

Some tuners also leave their signature in the tune itself, you maybe able to find it by using vag-com.
