My Jetta has started to develop a lot of creaking noises. Most often heard when backing up over a curb or a road imperfection. The car is a 2004 Jetta with only 110K on it. I was thinking that perhaps due to its age some of the suspension bushings are getting a little hard and should be replaced. I don't have any free play in any of the suspension parts or drive line. Any thoughts?

Re: Creaking Jetta
Creaking is actually your chassis flexing, lube your door seals with silicon spray. Like Sean said check all your bushings, lube all of them with white lithium grease, especially check your rear trailing arm bushings they are most likely shot(dried out hydraulic bushings), don't be lazy and replace them and makes a pretty big difference(whiteline solid bushings). Also if you have leather rear seats, when the chassis flex they will rub on each other, that you'll have to live with it...Current Fleet

Re: Creaking Jetta
If you are doing the front, do the entire tie rod assembly at the same time for both sides. You will spend more on a second alignment then you will for the parts to replace the tie rod assemblies.
Front ends on these vw's the parts are cheap, do everything and be done for another 100k km's or so.Ben
