  • Salty leather fix?

Wasn't really thinking and jumped in the car with damp shorts from the ocean. Was for a short ride, but it seems to have gotten in to the leather and dried it right out. It looks rough. I gave it a wipe and am not applyi g Lexol conditioner liberally. Anything else I can really do, or just let the conditioner soak in and hope for the best?

I'm told Saddle Soap is probably the way to go. Will be giving it a try.

Yeah, I saw vinegar pop up as a common salt stain remover...

Its weird. It looks like it shriveled and the leather got quite hard in spots. Seems really extreme for a few minutes of wet bum on the seat. I'm sure I've sweat more than that in those seats. Hah. You'd almost think it was a chemical burn or something the way it looks and feels.

Clean them with leather cleaner first.

Then apply Leatherique Rejuvenator and let it sit in the sun for a day... or two. Then clean off with Pristine Clean.

          Both available at Carzilla.

Swung by Carzilla today. Sweet little shop with all kinds of product. I'd recommend it for sure.

I did. Didn't have the hot day I was hoping for to help that stuff soak in, but it seems to help. Not sure how wet you are supposed to put it on. They say like 4oz per seat. That would be pretty soaked though i think. It softened it up a lot but the surface texture of the leather seems to be permanently messed up. If we get some sun I will do another round. I'd like to let it sit all day on a warm day.

Ya I doubt I used that much per seat. I just put it on evenly, by hand with gloves on.

The sun def helps... or even seat heaters if the car has them.

                    Some pics would be nice!

I picked up a couple bottles of Leatherique myself, just last week from Auto Obsessed here in Edmonton.

Excited to see what it can do to the 22 year old UrS4 pigmented leather seats.

Pics wont show much in my case I don't think as the texture issue is subtle. You feel the hard spots though. The leather was mint, it just got somehting on it that dried it up. Although it didn't completely fix my issue, the rest of the leather in the car feels amazing now. I think tomorrow I will add more to the bad spots and let it sit out in the heat while I'm at work. I also only did the fronts, but since they feel so nice now I will do the rears ASAP.
