The best hack in life is reading, you can learn in a few hours what someone has condensed from years of experience.

That has got to be the worst advice I have ever seen for a young kid who has a budget of 6k and a student

Re: Help on what car to buy

Since you are new and are already familiar with the platform i suggest you get another MK4, either the VR6 or 1.8T. Theres no point really trying to justify which is a better car. From experience it doesnt really matter... both are fun and a huge upgrade form the 2.0. The VR6 sounds better, but the 1.8T is way lighter in the front, therefore more economical and more nimble. Either way, whichever one you get, youll love it.

Of course, test drive both... chances are that youll personally prefer the feel of one over the other. But regardless, if you choose to buy a VR6 youll crave the turbo-ness of the 1.8t, get the 1.8t and youll always have that initial torque of the VR6 in the back of your mind.

When it comes the sub models i reccomend you just get a regular old 12v VR6 or 1.8t, although once chipped the 24v VR6 pulls much harder than the 12v VR6 i personally dont think its worth the time and effort it takes to find one thats clean, that and although it is faster than the regular 12V VR6 i dont believe the extra cost is worth what you get considering your situation. Of course, there will be some hardcore enthusiasts who think the 24v is worth every penny, but that is up to you.

Just going to leave this here: http://www.eurodrivers.ca/forums/sho...Volkswagen-GTI

Fits your budget. Will be reliable. You will have money left over for maintenance and a few mods. Pretty much what i would do if it were my money.

24Vs are pretty nimble... LOL just saying... If you get it setup right... I am VERY JEALOUS of the performance + fuel economy package from the 1.8T though, turbo is definitely the way to go if you don't care too much about sound.. Stock 24v pulls much harder than 12v too without the timing chain problem on the 12v..
