Start with the cheapest and easiest of things. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?
Haven't at all. Bought the car in June 2010 with 112K on it, I'm almost at 140 now. That will be the first thing I replace along with cleaning my air filter (put it on maybe 10K ago) and changing that boost gauge line from the FPR to an open port on the intake mani. Till I get it scanned I'll see what this does.
So I got a ross-tech cable and scanned the car. No fault codes!! O2 sensor regulation is ON, I couldn't find anything wrong. Only faults I got were no communication with Multi-Function wheel (cause I swapped it) and a problem with my drivers door lock (never locks with fob, always unlocks no prob) and thats all I got!
I have just under a 1/4 tank left and it's about 270km's on the trip odometer :(
Super easy to switch out the door lock modules or the switch itself. You can buy the switch and just fit it into place, i have one at home i need to do also. And i have a spare lock module so i can do the switch replacement then swap the module itself.
Well.. I'm driving a vr6 like I stole it every day and average 400 per tank so I think your jetta had a little bit of problem to start with.
This may sound a little strange but my BMW had a very leaky fuel line, and i did about 175km before it ran out, I couldn't figure out the issue because gasoline evaporates on the ground, i fixed the leak and 450+ per tank easily. I suspect you have a bad fuel leak somewhere in the system, a clogged maf or o2 sensor shouldn't make it that bad.
If you can't smell 30 litres of gas leaking go see a doctor.
