Hey forum, i have a bit of a problem. I bought some new (to me) rims for my golf. 16" Tsw hockenheims. good tread left on the tires and only paid $500 for all 4


bolt pattern 5x100 so thinking in the clear


however, these are my bolts.


these are the lugs that came included from the dude i bought them from... no worky

when i try and stick my bolts through the rim...


yes, i made the rookie mistake. my bolts are probably only 1 or 2 mm too thick. so what do I do, is my question? I dont really want to pay the extra said amount of money for new rotors just to get my rims on. can i buy like a 1 mm smaller bolt?!?! should i just sell the rims and buy ones that actually fit through?! I dont really want to sell them, because part of the reason I bought them was for the tires themselves. so what do i do?

I'm assuming you need some conical bolts for those aftermarket wheels.
Or those wheels came off a car with a m12 lug vs vws m14 if that's the case you may have to get creative

You need Conical Bolts, you cannot use your stock wheel bolts even if they fit.

They probably were M12 by 1.5 so the smaller bolt. We have stud conversions at the shop that change from M14 to M12.

Drill the wheel lug holes out to 14mm or stud conversion. Done. And you'll need new cone seat bolts since the ones you pictured are OEM ball i'd assume.

Watch out with all that anti seize on your lug bolts, it tends to cause overtorque. It's not needed IMO.

Ugh... I wouldn't bother drilling those wheels or doing stud conversions... I'd just sell them and get wheels that fit... Bring your bolts next time while you look for wheels.

If we all did that there would be a lack of nice wheels out there that people run with. People tend to make things work for the things they want.

before you buy any lug bolts, test fit a wheel on the car and make sure the offsets are right...... if not, lug bolts are pointless.

the lugs are pointless. i just thought i would include them. i'll probably end up getting a stud conversion

Use a M14 Bolt to M12 Stud Conversion

You might want to check the ceter bore of the wheels as well, be carefull as well with tsw of that vintage they bend easy.

Yup and yup. Ringer-racing.com has the best price I've been able to find for a stud conversion.

Alright. im going to pick up the stud conversion kit that change from M14 to M12. Will I still need to buy conical bolts or cone seat bolts? sorry, im such a noob when it comes to this stuff. just want to clarify before i blow another $140 bucks haha

If you get a stud conversion you will not use bolts, you use lug nuts.
You will need cone/conical shape to match the aftermarket wheels.
