my golf mk4 has a weird problem. not sure if its been talked about here, but i couldnt find any forums about it. anyways, my golf repeatedly makes the signal clicking noise even when im not signalling. its just random clicking which is getting rather annoying. anyone know a solution to fix this problem? is it common?

Re: signal clicker noise keeps going off.
Usually the turn signal stalk - Try the contact cleaner, if that doesn't work it needs an arm/hazard switch.

had this on my mk4 r32, you will probably need the whole signal stalk replaced, thats what I did.sigpic

Re: signal clicker noise keeps going off.
You can actually remove, disassemble and thoroughly clean the turn signal switch. If you're inclined, i'll hunt around for the procedure, I think it took me approximately an hour to do the last one. Just be sure to pay close attention when you take it apart. If you do this, and the problem persists.. swap hazard switches with someone and see if it stops. Spend money when you know exactly what the problem is.Last edited by danosaur; 05-16-2014, 02:25 PM.

Re: signal clicker noise keeps going off.
If that doesn't work, give Natty or I a PM and we can get you hooked up with a stalk. I have a hazard switch you can try if the stalk doesn't fix it. I can give you a hand as well.

Re: signal clicker noise keeps going off.
HAd this issue on my jetta, Tried Electrical cleaner, changine hazard relay, but the signal stalk eventually had to be replaced. Its a pretty penny of a job if you get it done dealer or shop, but not too bad if you do it yourself.-Terry

Re: signal clicker noise keeps going off.
the girls mk4 had the same thing, contact cleaner behind the stalk when pushed up to the "right" signal worked well, never happened again. It was CONSTANT. Get it in there so it does its job properly though, let it drip out a bit. It might go mental for 5 minutes or so then it should stop, unless its more seriousI take pictures for money.
