Interesting situation happening with my car, i have a theory, just want to know everybody else's thoughts
Back Story
All of my 12V switched accessories (head unit, airride system etc) are run from the 75X terminal under the dash
GLI sat over the winter in my heated garage above freezing but battery was disconnected
Battery is very old and i have a heavy draw on my system so it is basically pooched
Few days ago i got the airride system installed again and boosted the car multiple times and the battery wouldn't hold a charge. On the very last time i turned the car off and switched it to accessory to air the car out and the car was acting a bit weird, the battery was dead but it would turn accessory devices on for a second then turn them off as soon as any load was drawn from the system.
Installed new battery last night and this happened:
When the engine is Off
When the engine is off and the key is in "accessory position" all of the devices switch on and work perfectly normally. Battery has a charge and airride works, radio works, gauge works, etc.
When I turn over the engine
As soon as i start cranking over the engine the load reduction relay kills all the 75X terminal devices and the car turns over just fine.
The 75X terminal turns back on for a fraction of a second before dying completely.
I checked every fuse and they are all good.
My theory is that the ignition switch is pooched. Faulty ignition switch might be due to the constant on/off clicking that happened during the very last time i tried to air the car out with the dead battery. This is also what pulls in the coil on the load reduction relay so it might not be releasing when the engine is turned on.
Load reduction relay is still functioning too btw
ANY THOUGHTS PLEASE
