  • 1.8T N75 low boost problem

    Hey guys,

So I have had an ECS Race N75 wastegate valve in my car since I bought it and I believe it seen in there for a very long time. Probably for like 5-10 years. I swapped it out yesterday for a stock n75 and my car would only boost about 4psi. Jay suggested I disconnect the battery and let my ECU reset which I did and boom, back up to boosting around 13psi and peaking at 15.
Now my problem is that it was running fine and boosting nice and smooth, felt great, until my engine light came back on like it always does after I clear it or unhook my battery, now it only hits 4psi again and it's super annoying. It sill runs fine but my god is it slooowww!
I'm thinking it's just my ECU getting used to the stock N75 because the old valve had been in there so long, I'll try unhooking the battery again and scan it when the code comes back just to see if anything comes up because the race n75 threw a code.
Anyone have any thoughts? The car is going back to tunedub next Tuesday so if I can't figure it out by then I'll get George to take a look at it.

if you have VCDS, just reset learned values. Do a 2nd gear pull from 2000 to redline and watch your wastegate duty cycle, maf and manifold pressure. Check that everythings hooked up right. Sounds like its sensing an overboost

I don't have VCDS. I'll have to see who can help me out in that area I guess. Anyone with VCDS wanna help a brotha out?

Come out to the peters meet tonight and I'll bring mine.

I'm guessing its going into limp mode for some reason. If you cycle the ignition does it go back for 14psi for a little while?

          I don't think I can make it out :(
And no it only hits higher boost when I disconnect the battery, I'm going to try again tonight and pay closer attention to it when the engine light comes back etc..
Terry offered up his cord! I'll try to reset those values and see how that goes!

Maybe your new N75 is defective. try putting the old one back in?

As far as I can tell it seems to be an ECU. I'll see if it throws a code but if my stock valve is defective I'll probably order a brand new one
