An interesting thing I noticed is that the cup kit uses Bilstein, mine also seemed to have an OEM type part number and VW stamping on the shock. Maybe for use in VW racing apps.

yea simon thats true the H&R cupkit uses bilsteins but i found out the difference... i have the bilstein 'sports' and you guys just have umm bilsteins.. i honestly don't know if there is a difference or not but some people on vortex said the sports are a model up thats why you pay more.. i dunno tho..

                          Re: Cup Kit Ques????

No, the H&R cup kit does not use bilsteins. It uses Sachs shock absorbers, and is available with a one year warrranty (unlike the typical Bilstein lifetime warranty). That being said, OEM shocks are made by Sachs too. Whats the difference? I dont know.

The only cup kit that uses Bilstein is the Neuspeed one, and that uses Bilstein TC, not Sport. The difference is that TC is a twin tube shock absorber whereas sport is a monotube design.

Trust me on this. I've been doing my research,

                            Re: Cup Kit Ques????

Oh, and Ryan, the difference between Bilstein HD (regular bilstein) and Bilstein Sport is just the length of the shaft - Sports are designed to be used with shortened springs and thus have a shortened shaft. HD is designed to be used with normal length non lowered springs, and thus do not have a shortened shaft. Damping characteristics are the same, but the HD have a tendency to not perform well with lowered springs because you're only using part of their travel.

Dale - Apex makes a cup kit with a 2.6" drop. If you're hardcore enough.
