so i adjusted the linkages and no cigar,
This time when i started the car the rattling noise in the clutch got even louder. it almost sounds like the fly wheel blew or shattered, if thats possible.

        Re: Clutch help

the flywheel blew apart in my audi. made an awful sound, heavy vibration and was tough to put into gear, so yea. flywheels blow up. there's a video of it in the #eurodrivers tag on instagram. pulling the cups isn't necessary as long as you rotate the transmission towards the front of the car, it will clear.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3

Sounds like you are going to have to drop the tranny to see what's going on

                  Re: Clutch help

Wow, don't know if I have seen that happen before. How much power are you running?

For replacement assuming that it is a dual mass, go for a single mass conversion and be done with it. Don't know what your power or power goals are for the car but spec the clutch to be able to handle what you are going to be throwing at it.

                      Re: Clutch help

This car def is not stock power but I have no idea what it has. I know it has a big 2.5/3" turbo back exhaust. Possible tune. But I've yet to hear back from the previous owner.

                        Re: Clutch help

Someone mentioned putting a vr6 flywheel instead of the the 1.8t. Apparently they are better and can be interchanged?
Also what's the benefit or difference between single and dual mass. I know I did a conversion to single mass on my vr. Well i didn't personally but my mechanic at the time did. I don't have to replace the whole clutch in this case do I?

                          Re: Clutch help

A VR6 clutch will have more holding power. I have a single mass flywheel VR6 setup in my TDI and throwing over 350 torque at it and it is still standing up to it. The only downside to my clutch setup is that it is very chattery. I find it pretty loud on idle, and that's over the top of my loud diesel engine.

                            Re: Clutch help

If it has a 5spd tranny, a new vr6 clutch with a single mass flywheel should run you a couple hundred...now 6spd on the other hand...good luck.

Anyone know the torque specs on the diff bolts?( don't ask why I cracked them lol) ...
I've searched everywhere online and nothing and don't have the repair manual.
Also the throwout bearing is giving me a heck of a time....
