Re: VR6 CAI vs Short ram
Now everyone is gonna be reluctant to post numbers.
I will just say that to prevent dealer hassle, consider if you really really need an intake. Mass Airflow Sensors are notoriously faulty (even with stock airboxes) but since they are expensive, there's something to be said for not giving the dealer any excuse to void it.

Re: VR6 CAI vs Short ram
Well most likely on a 2001 the warranty is up as they where only 2 year back then. I think most people would say CAI, but maybe you should just go with what ever you like as the gains are minimal for either. That being said I just installed a Viper intake on my VR6 and I have not had too much time to run it but it seems good and sounds bad ass when you get on it!Blair

Re: VR6 CAI vs Short ram
It's a matter of personal choice. A CAI is not going to give you gains large enough to make any real difference (although some people seem to think they will get 20hp out of it, this is not the case). I got mine purely for the agressive sound it makes.

Re: VR6 CAI vs Short ram
Yeah, a short ram should be fine, and is easier to change back to stock if need be....Performance gains are negligable, the only real difference being the restrictive nature of an airbox is eliminated with an open filter, but really none with air temp. or "ram" effect....Also, aggressive sound is filter dependant, a cotton oiled filter is gonna be louder, but detrimental to your MAF, I have an ITG foam filter on mine, and they claim to be noise reducing....Mine really isn't that loud, just a little growl, definite DV noise though, and spool.....Plus it won't clog the MAF....Anywho, I would recommend the foamLast edited by Aleks; 03-13-2004, 11:42 PM.2006 Colorado Xtreme | AEM CAI | Walker exhaust | smoked glass | -1" dropped rear | Avic D3 | 8000K HID's
