Yeah Mann, hengst, Mahle are all good, we stock Mann for just about every Vw at Calgary Autoworks.

I always use either Mann, Mahle or Bosch, however I have never run into an instance where either Natty or CAW didnt have a Mann filter. Go for the good stuff, go see Colin or Natty!

Anyone got some good horror stories with can tire brand oil filters?

I installed a quaker state filter from there once many years ago and it turned my oil grey. Changed everything out with a Mann filter and the oil was not grey. No idea what happened with quaker state filter.

i get my filters from Natty too. on occasion when i don't, i get the Bosch ones from parts source.

I just buy Audi/VW filters, they aren't expensive, just buy them 5 at a time and be set for a long time.

hasting filters are my go to filter for my tdi this info if from boarparts.com

The Hengst filter has the most pleats (surface area): 78
Mahle: 65
Mann/Bosch: 50
