  • Good Idea To Paint Valence?

I was thinking about painting my front and rear valence on my 2003 Jetta. I heard you need the valence's to be sanded and then primered and sprayed with a flex paint and then painted.

Does anyone know a good auto body shop that works wonders with VW's?

I have been wanting park my valences as well but I figure over time, they'll just begin to crack and the paint will come off. The biggest thing I am looking into is putting vinyl on them. I know a guy who did it on the Vortex and he's had it on for over a year and it still looks great and only costs about $75 - 100 US. I may look into that.

Actually you can get flex paint and it wont chip and peel off. I just dunno where to get it done.

First, Peter, I will try and find him on the Vortex and get him over here. I just simply couldn't believe that he had done such a great job with it and how well it looked.

Second, that flex paint sounds good. The only problem would be scraping and getting it hung on a concrete curb like said before.

If you go with a good shop, get the pieces prepped well (sanding), and put a correct amount of flex agent in the paint you will be good, but of course you have to be careful, but if you have any bodykit or such you always do

i would encourage painting the valences.

i have done it on both of my mk4 golf's. just take it into a body shop, they know what to do. both times it has turned out wonderful. the first golf was lowered, and i got a bit of scraping on the front valence, but you can't see it unless you're on your knee's looking up anyway.

I am excited to have my reiger front lip and stock rear painted. I am actually waiting until the weather warms up so the paint has a chance to cure. It may snow some more in MD [Thumbs Up]
