    Questions!

I need to change my adjusters out to the billet ones and need to pull the lenses to do so. A lot of the DIY links on vortex i found were not working. I know a few of you have done retrofits or joey mods and know your way around these things. I want to know full well what i am doing before i get in there.

First, taking the lens off. From what i have read putting it in the oven @ 200 deg. for 1 minute works. I read a heat gun works and i have one of those. I have heard also you can just cut around the lense and it will come apart. One thing to mention is i just had my lenses re-done with 3M last year. I was told it should be fine to take a bit of heat as long as i don't touch it afterwards.

Secondly, putting the lens back on what did you guys use as bond/sealer?

Also any tips and expertise is welcomed!

    Thanks in advance,

    Kane

I think i used 150F for 1min 30sec or around there and you just pry it open with a screwdriver. That is for OEM headlights, not sure if the OEM HIDs are any different thought.

I use butyl rubber tape, i have a roll at home you can use if you drop by

What Sean said for opening them.

I used black gasket maker from autovalue, it seals it up really good cause its gel like and isnt a huge pain to open up again after its dried. It's way easier to clean than anything sticky cause you can just cut it off or pull it off if the surfaces are smooth.

The OEM HIDs have silicone not butyl! Don't heat them up, you could end up melting the 2 rubber HID Projector adjusters.

To take mine apart, I took my time switching between a very small flathead screwdriver and an exacto knife to pull out the silicone.

It's going to be a b*tch to get apart, so be careful and good luck!

To put them back together I used outdoor black silicone I got at home hardware. The new silicone is much more flexible and easier to remove if you need to get back in there again.
