  • What can i resoanably get for my car?

Hey guys, just wanted to see everyone’s opinion on what I can get for my car as it will be my first car sale sometime in the next summer. Might sell as is. Too much hassle to part things out.

It’s a 2000 Jetta GLS Uni Black Automatic no engine mods. I think I am the second owner. Bought it at 75K from Norden VW in 2004.
It’s my daily driver and Just hit the 300K mark. Mostly highway driven. Timing belt and water pump just serviced by George. New front and back glass.
Oil changes done every 5K with Castrol syntec. Paint is decent condition. Front bumper and hood has usual wear from the years. Couple of small rust spots in the back. No accidents. A/C and heated seats still work great.

What I did to the car
    Engine bay
    -Coolant heater
    -ECS tuning strut bar
    -Compustar 2-way remote starter

    Interior
-driver side sunglass holder replaced the grab handle on top
-Pioneer Avic F900BT Double Din NAV/DVD unit.
-Interior led Blue foot well lights on switch.
-white led lights in the Glove box. Turns on when opened
    -Interior white leds
-Upgraded to later style in dash cupholder
    -Euro switch for the Fogs
-White-Cold Cathode lights in the Trunk

    Exterior
    -Full GLI OEM body Kit
    -GLI Exhuast
    -GLI Tail lights
-Trunk was swapped out with the newer lipped one
    -Front Eurostrip on bumper
-Hella HID Driving lights where the fog lights are. Used as DRL’s as my DRLs are disabled. Hooked up the the euroswtich
-Oringinal headlights retrofitted with Bi-xenon E55 projectors/Osram CBI D2S bulbs fairly new/ Matsushita Gen 3 ballasts. Turned on only during night so not much use.
    -stubby antenna
    -Led License plate bulbs

Pics are old but nothing new.

The only pic I have of the back. (don’t plan on using this in the ad of course. Just for reference)
     photo 2012-08-13074402.jpg

    Will also include:
    -Bentley Manual
    -Rosstech Vag com-usb Key
    -Monster mats
    -OEM base roof rack
-summer wheels, Miro MO2 with Nexen tires. Probably can get one more season out of it
-winter wheels, Avus rims with Michellin Xi3 one season so far

    Other information.
Head gasket replaced at around 205K. been running fine since. CEL comes on every so often. Scan says it’s the right rear abs sensor. Suspension is FK coils. Probably needs replacing. Brakes probably need replacing.

I’m thinking $2000 or is that reaching?? Thanks for looking.

IDE say definitely part it out. You will get much more by doing so. Stock I dunno yeah IDE say list it for 2 or 3. You have some pretty desirable mods so I'm sure they would sell for a decent amount. It's definitely a clean looking car for the mileage!

Seems pretty fair to me. I'll trade you a 97 pathfinder for it

I would have said 5k, 2 sounds really low to me

Yeah the only components that I would consider parting out is the headlights and fogs and the front lip. The rest I don’t care to take apart. I have the original tape deck but that is not going to help me sell the car I’m sure. Its almost 2014. That crap is obsolete. I still can’t believe it came with the car! Looking to get an Audi next. Thanks for the offer Bolide but no need for SUV at the moment. 5K sounds nice but I have seen lower mileage for that price.

if you "dont care to take apart" the valuable mods, sounds like you dont care how much money you can get for the car. being lazy is gonna make you miss out on some decent cash for those parts. just sayin.

I think $5,000 is a reasonable asking price for the car. I assume it looks very GLI and looks count for a lot to most people.
You can always let the buyer negotiate you down to $4,000 and you'll be $2,000 more than you were expecting.

I would say $2-$3k. That's nearly a 15 year old car with 300k that needs brake and suspension work.

It's high k and automatic. Someone might pay 2500-3 as a parts car. 4 or 5 is dreaming in my opinion.

I would list it somewhere between $4500-$5000 since the mods on it are quite good.

i should probably sell the winters separately as i just bought them. yes i agree whoever buys it still needs to pay for some maintainence. thinking 3-4 to start.

I've seen some non-modded MK4s with high mileage go for $2500-$3000, I'm sure with the mods the OP will get $4,000.

@ ryukin2000 : why don't you post it on Kijiji for $5,000 today and see if you get any bites? If no one is buying it's easy enough to lower the price after a week or two.

thanks for the suggestion. might think about it. I'm pretty busy for the next two months so am planning to list right after winter. then i can do a full polish. easier to keep clean.
