So i just did a 15 day road trip in my car (as is) and i had no problems at all, a bit shocking actually.
For those who know about the car, i had the engine light issue being thrown because of the APR intake. The lovely people at fifth ave VW tried a few more things before my trip, things they did not have to do, and it has been fixed! I will have to look at the notes to see exactly what they did, but they replaced a sensor that can be faulted due to an aftermarket intake (so im told). The tech even had to take the intake out and re install it, again, did not have to, but they did! I couldnt be happier.
So i just drove about 7000km in 15 days in this thing, suspension even lower than usual because of like 200lbs of luggage in the back with the seats folded down.
Left Calgary on the 24th, a quick run down of the trip is like so:
Calgary > Kelowna (just to eat and surprise my grandparents) > seattle (all booked up so kept going) > renton (sucked, kept going) > some lodging area between Seattle and Portland, yep, all on the first day, stayed the night > portland > Crescent City, kind of a weird place. its on the coast, could be super nice, but instead its a ghost town and really creepy > san fran > woodland hills/los angeles for a few days to visit friends > las vegas for a few days > salt lake city > butte > calgary...
The lady and i took the long way the whole way down, the pacific coast highway is beautiful.
I had zero issues at all other than some cities being really hard to drive in, note: Seattle is not a low car friendly city, at all.
Anyway, my car did really well, gas was amazing, i somehow made it to kelowna on half a tank. I was averaging 820km to a tank the whole trip.
Just wanted to post this up because i didnt expect it to go so well, if anyone is planning on a road trip with something similar, its quite comfortable and a lot of fun.
I will be posting a few photos just of the car in cool places once i go through the several thousand i took during the trip, anyway, blah blah. Just proud of the car for not failing me on this endeavour, i honestly expected something to go wrong.
Stoked to come back out and see some faces again! feels like ive been gone forever!
