what do you guys think of these wheels...?

i'm considering them, because they're light, 20 lbs. my current wheels are 26 lbs. the rule of thumb is that for every lb. of unsprung weight, this equals 2-3 lbs of extra weight during accelerating and braking.

so getting those wheels, my car would 'feel' 72 lbs lighter, which is good for solo2.

I like the Superturismo Corsa's better for looks. But if you really want to lose the weight, I can understand that since you really do go to the track a fair bit. The OZ's will look great with your mirrors and you still get respect on the street

Instead of lighter wheels, make your engine more powerful Or we could take out your back seats!

I think the Chronos are really hot in 18"

I was considering them, but a friend of mine has them...

Honestly Bart, if you are worried about wheel weight for racing, just buy some (smaller) dedicated race wheels and rubber. You've got a hatchback, so it shouldn't be any trouble transporting them. Not only are the smaller wheels lighter, but the mass is closer to the axis of rotation, so the moment of rotation (or whatever it's called) is greatly reduced as well.

The usual thinking in autocross is to get the smallest/widest wheels that will fit over the calipers and get the widest/lowest profile tires that will fit on them (without sticking out past the fender in Stock/Super Stock classes). In your case, I don't think you want to decrease the overall diameter, since your car is already geared so low, but other than that, go small.

Besides, 15"/16" rubber is far cheaper than 18" rubber.

Like I always say: Be fast or be spectacular!

It's usually in reference to driving technique, but I think it applies here too.
