Ryan, if you go up there tomorrow, snap a few pics!! Kris, what was the price of it with all the mods? I wonder if it's available for a test drive....

That is really interesting that they are going that route. I think that I will have to stop in there over lunch to see what the deal is. I haev been a fan of 5th ave since I bought my first Golf in 2000, and they have always treated me well.

Re: 5th Ave = Mod Shop?

There was no price posted and I talked to the parts guy not the sales guy.

Guys, you may be surprised to hear this, but... there are only so many body kits.

So sooner or later there are going to be more than one. I already have the Caractere grill, and its very nice looking... so I would go that way if I can get a kit... but I am also a ways from being able to afford one (unless there is another AMI Group Buy)

By the way, AMI is in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

hehe, personally I'll get whatever kit I want, cause I'm making the payments!! So if the club wants to take over my monthlies, I'd be happy to put a one off unique kit on mine! But till then, my Reiger R-RX is in the future....BTW, I don't think anyone here has the R-RX yet, so I'm still safe....hopefully they will carry this!

Re: 5th Ave = Mod Shop?

ok, so between $40k - 42 i think they want for the car... Thats what sales guy said. I dont like the reiger no that car, or the pink tail lights some girl probably picked.

I did book my alignment for tomorrow morning, but i'm going cancel, two reasons:

                1) went to northland afterwards to see whats up, they're getting a new machine first week of march, so i will go there;
                2) guys in service at 5th ave are dooshbags, they decided to tell me that they may require to take off my wheel, airbag, and disconnect battery, reset airbag just in case they might not align the steering wheel by moving the wheels. what a bunch of ********. i think thats the worst dealership of all, no wonder two top people left them already, and another guy i knew of. they're bays were completely empty, just a way of them getting more money from me. **** that, never again will i go there.

That doesn't bode well for the possibility of an alliance....

i dont see the point of an alliance with thieves.... you do?

northland has been the best so far, we even got discounts there, while keith was there anyway. i bet we can set something up with them, just nobody i dont think has tried yet.

Re: 5th Ave = Mod Shop?

Okay, first of all, I think you DO sometimes need to take off the wheel and airbag to fix the orientation of the steering wheel. I know this because when I got my alignment done at Trio Motors they had to do this in addition to the wheel alignment. Or so they said.

Secondly, saying thieves is pretty extreme (unless you mean $42K for that Jetta, when I bet we could do one for 30K). I don't really see where your negativity is coming from.

Third, Northlad doesn't sell things like Caractere body kits, Supersprint exhausts, and many other products that traditionally we have had to pay shipping on.

Re: 5th Ave = Mod Shop?

nah, trio did my car 3 times before, never took the wheel off.

i dont care for the parts, but for service. i know northland offers the best and most reasonable service when it comes to modded cars, selling aftermarket parts has nothing to do with being 'mod' friendly. just shows how slow their business is now...

                        examples:

                        1) scfc wanted $35 to grease my doors, - northland free
                        2) 5th ave charged me $50 to tell me wheel bearing busted, no warranty, because 'race city' sticker on window, car lowered, etc, - northland, maybe would have fixed it
                        3) my worst problem, busted cv joint, brought my car lowered to northland as was, except the rims, and they replaced it under warranty, saved myself $500 or so.

so taking all that into consideration, with their nicer people who work in service, a guy who is an enthusiast, i will be going there for now.

see when my engine blows, i'd like another for free, rather than saving 10% on some bumper lenses

Re: 5th Ave = Mod Shop?

So service at Northland, and be nice to the folks at 5th so you can buy yourself something nice.

I have the opposite story, I was turned away from Northland servicing my car once because I had an "Aftermarket Blow Off Valve" (Forge DV) and was charged for the time it took them to find this out (1 hour). So basically I paid them like $60 for nothing. Took it to 5th ave for winter service, they had it done in a few hours, in the meanwhile gave me ride to the university in a brand new Touareg.

Got my monster mats at 5th ave, they gave me a discount when I asked, no problem.

                            Hey Bart,
I don't understand why you continue to come back to fifth ave and then continuously hammer our business practices on a public forum. Its seems that everytime you have an issue here so why do you keep coming back? If Northland is so fantastic, then stay there!!

Im with Bart. No dealership is perfect, but Northland definitely comes out ahead of everyone else for customer service.

hmm, so i guess it depends then huh? lol

i always got stuff done at northland the last few times, so i will stay 'loyal'. i know that all the dealerships have access to the same info on the computer. because a few weeks ago i changed the name of the account at northland from my moms to mine, today at 5th the ave was on their computer. so i think no matter what dealership you get serviced at, all the others can check to see what has been done.
