2012 Tiguan driver side tail light stays on

Went out for dinner tonight and came back and noticed the drivers side tail light was on. Checked and the light switch was set to off not auto. Btw I was parked on the street.

It could be a parking light. I believe it's a feature activated on European VW's via VCDS. When you're parked and the vehicle is off, you can hit the signal light stalk either left or right. This will illuminate one side of the vehicle making it more visible to traffic at night.

I kind of figured that. I only heard of that happening from friends that rented cars in Europe. Our Tiguan was bought here in Calgary last year.
