Mk4 ODD headlight problems

I come the gurus once again for Help solving a odd problem. My mkiv jettas Left headlight will sometimes not come on and sometimes it will. Usually once i hit the high's the low beams will come on o.O And sometimes they won't, Any ideas?

Have you tried swapping the bulbs around?

Are they HIDs or Halogens? Make sure all your connections are secure/dry. Not too familiar with MK4s but I'm sure there is some kind of relay for them. Try replacing the relay and see if that helps. MK4 people please correct me if I'm wrong.
If they're HIDs, your ballast could be going. The first day I bought my MK4 last winter, my pass side one failed because of the ballast and I threw them out right away since they were in reflector housings.

it does sound like your bulb might be going. could also be a bad contact.

I had this problem on my old 2.0 turned out to be the plugs for the bulbs because I was running higher watt bulbs. It melted the plug and would only come on sometimes. You may need to replace the plug, you might be able to get away with just twisting the connectors a little bit on the bulb.

Make sure they didnt start to melt where the terminals sit in the plastic socket.Often this can cause a problem down the road .
