  • Heater vent illumination on mk4.

    Hi guys.

My tdi is an 04 and doesn't have the illuminated heater vents. I have read that later mk4's didn't come with that feature, did i read correctly? I know my wifes Jetta which is a 02 has it.

Anyone know if there was a certain year they stopped putting them in? Maybe i'm just being a tard and need to take another look at my fuse panel

    Picture for reference.

Mine is an '05 and does not have lit vents. They look like they should be, they're not solid white like the golfs. I've never looked to see if they're wired in any way though.

I would double check that Dylan...no anniversary GLI came with them to my knowledge

I didn't have them, but it was one of my first mods to my GLI was to swap in lit vents

There are two types of vents, the lay-flat illuminated ones and the non lay-flat.
I believe (but not sure) they stopped adding them to the Jettas in 2002.
I also bought the lit vents and installed them on my 2005 TDI as my first mod.
On the Golfs they were never installed, so there's some wiring required to retrofit them on a Golf.

              Incorrect.
There are 3 types. The non-shuttable golf ones, shuttable non-lit jetta vents and shuttable lit jetta vents.

Then I'd have to say 4 types, I had non-shuttable non-lit jetta vents.

I'll dig them up and snap some in the morning.
I don't see why someone would put Golf vents in a Jetta, but anything is possible with pre-owned cars.

On a side note, I stumbled on this mod and it's pretty cool

I have heard the lit vents are hard to come by. How do you remove the center dual vent?

Yours would follow the same rules as a regular 03 jetta in the lit vent department, which it does
