  • Golf R APR tune

Spring is here and the Golf is now a year old, time for a tune and exhaust. What are R owners thoughts on their APR or other tunes and/or exhaust?

      Re: Golf R APR tune

I sometimes lurk the Golf R forums on Vortex and it seems people are switching over to UM tune from APR. - http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...within)/page11

If you're interested in the UM tune you can sign up on our group buy that's going on, let me know.

I've listened to YouTube videos of APR's RSC exhaust and I don't like it for the Golf R. It just sounds like a constant whooshing sound, absolutely no tonality and note to it.

We've done a couple at the shop with Revo and its freaking awesome. Haven't been in an APR one yet though so I cant compare.

Nah, Tunes vary some more aggressive then others etc etc.

Thanks for the input, I do try to avoid Vortex if at all possible the MKIV forum still leaves a bad taste.

The Vortex switches from Coke to Pepsi back to Coke every week.

                Re: Golf R APR tune

I have an APR 2+ tune in mine with the APR downpipe. It's rapid and sounds extremely aggressive at 3500rpm+ but idles quietly and makes for a good daily during most city driving.

I had APR stage 1 before it - best way I can describe that tune is that it should have been the stock tune for this car - great tune if your not planning for hpfp etc.

TTRS people also switching to UM cause for some APR soft is misfiring on the TTRS, UM claims more power without misfires but for now thats just hearsay...

APR provides a more modest upgrade. **** hits the fan when I use Husky 93 though lol.

Something that I forgot to mention about Revo is that it is adjustable, so you can adjust Boost, Timing (higher octane fuel) and Fuel.

Thanks that's very helpful, I'm pretty sure i'm going at least the Stage 1+ with the HPFP.

Only the stage 2+ uses the HPFP Stage 1 is $499 right now. Stage 2 is $50 more up-gradable at any time providing the hardware requirements are met.

You need the down pipe and exhaust for the stage 2=?
