  • I've Had it....

So this is it. I am going to sell my car.
I have had nothing but bad luck with it since day one. It has been in to the dealer many times with coil pack problems(9 of them), bad ECU, bad wiring harness, bad MAF, bad brake light switch, dead cruise control, bad drivers side interior light switch and more.
Its horse ****. I spent 32,000 dollars on a car, and now i have to make sure i have a backup plan to get anywhere, because some mornings it just wont run. I was left stranded in Edmonton today because i lost another coilpack. They towed it to a dealer up there, but i couldnt get a rental because it was sunday and the dealers arnt open. Now i have to wait untill they fix my car, drive back up to Edmonton and pick it up.
This is not what i expected when i bought this car. I assumed that by paying more then a civic or sun fire, i would get more. My sisters 5 year old cavalier with 240,00KM has never had a problem. WTF.

I feel your pain. If that many problems occurred then I will give up the car. Of course some opinions are telling you to keep, but it is very easy to say to other people. Well, simple enough that they do not have the ownership of that car. Driving/racing is a pleasure thing for me to do. Mechanical failure is the area that I will not accept. I will feel under pressure to drive any distance if I already knew the coil pack will blow on any moment.

I will not blame the car that was demo before. The car is still good as long as no accident happened. When the demo become available for customer to test drive it already the third time that the demo get rip. Do you think the dude who loads the cars on VW shipping boat drive slowly and care about the red line or rpm stuff? No way. What about the people who load the car on the train? Same situation.

Yeah, i agree. It wasnt even a demo. it had like 200km on it. It was drivin a couple of times. I count on it to get me to work, to go to Edmonton almost everyweek, and to go out of town for work when i need to. This week i had to rent a car to take out of town because my car wasnt available. So, in addition to the $500 car payment, it cost me $150 to rent a truck to go out of town.

I looked into the trade this week, and as expected, i get killed getting rid of my car. Since all of the coil's have been changed to the new version, i am going to wait and see what happens. If one of the new ones fails, its gone. I dont care what i have to drive, as long as its realiable.

sucks, but if your coil packs go out that many times can you claim you car as a lemon? what is it... if you have to take it in to get it fixed 3 times you can claim it a lemon... maybe thats what you should do... sorry you got a sour vw...

I don't think he's looking at those cars as upgrades to his car, however, how is an Altima not and upgrade from a Jetta? More room, more power, what defines upgrade? as far as the pathfinder or sierra goes, both cost more than a jetta would, same features plus bigger motors and 4 wheel drive.

As for the lemon thing, i think you have to be under 12000 km for that to work

Any car is a crap-shoot with regards to being reliable. Hell, I saw 2 Honda accords dead in the middle of the road (1 on Crowchild, 1 on Southland) in the last week.

Coil/points/distributor problems have been happening since the 70s - if you sell your car you're going to take a bath cash wise. Buy some spare coils and a Vagcom instead, and wait for the final part revision.
