  • Still looking for a new car

I think I found a car I that interests me to replace my old MKIV Jetta TDI. I found a 2012 Jetta GLI. What are these worth? Anything I should look out for?

its a good car . a 12 is going to be closer to 29,000 if you can find one , They are still built on a cheaper platform than the golf however and not available with the hid headlights

between a GLI and a GTi, i would go with a GTI, i find the hatch has more usuable room then the Jetta and theyre alot cooler looking too, OEM HIDS are awesome.

You can buy a MK5 R32 with that price.

As I understand post 2009 2.0L turbos were TSI engines. So timing belt was replaced with a timing chain?

IIRC, they switch to the TSI engine mid way through the 2008 model year. But yes, the TSI uses a chain instead of a belt and is isn't nearly as likely to have carbon buildup issues like the FSI engines.

Looks like I am one step closer to getting the GLI. Hopefully I can pick it up this week.
