Guess my point wasn't about getting opinions, i'm all for getting advice when i don't know much about the subject. Just referring to the fact that you hadn't bought brake pads yet and you were planning on changing them today on a tight timeframe with having to try to find them available in town. I would normally ask a month in advance and take time to shop around for the best pricing or delivery

Ahh ok I get what you were getting at now, and I'm swapping my used rear pads tonight because I have a a rear set in my toolbox ATM. I won't be doing my full brakes until I put my car into summer mode (I guess I shoulda said that in the original post) my bad XD

A Caliper wind back tool. I tried the cube but it has always been a nightmare.

Got the tool at princess auto for $50? and haven't looked back

I have muscled it in every time, just put in a ton of force at the start when you are turning it

Don't think that works so well since the piston needs to twist in.

It works alright just have to turn it while compressing, a bit tricky at first.

Cube works but is a ***** in my opinion. I have the brake tool kit if needed, up in hidden valley.

                              Re: Brake pads

Talk to Natty about the akenono pads. He can get them and you know they will be akebono and not a knock off or something that sometimes happens with ebay.

In terms of break squeal honestly it mostly comes down to an improper install. When replacing pads you have to clean all the slides and portions of the caliper of dirt and rust. Typically I use a metal brush and clean the piston before I reset it for the new pads. Once that is all done you need to use a brake lube of sorts on the slides and caliper surface that touches the brake pad. Don't forget to make sure the pins move freely and you can add some lube for extra insurance if you want as well. Don't get any lube on the surface of the pad or the rotors, it won't help stopping the first little bit at all.

Brake lube, I found the stuff from Wurth to be really good, but since I don't have that contact any more I have used the stuff from Cnd Tire with good results.

I have seen guys do brake jobs on exactly the same cars, with exactly the same pads and rotors, one would clean and lube, the other would forget or skip it. Typically the guy who skipped it ended up pulling everything apart and cleaning/lube to get the job done right.

In terms of rotors, just do them at the same time unless you are unloading the car. The pads typically last a long time on these cars and if you do the pads and the rotors go 6 months down the road you will or should redo the pads then to. Also if you are spending good money on the pads, and get cheap rotors you are just setting yourself up for problems down the road.

Always remember with brakes, cheaper is not better and if you are doing them yourself know what you are doing or get help, your life is on the line if you can't stop.
