  • My review of Silverstars

Alrighty, so after going through about 5 boxes of Eurolites during the past 1.5 years, I decided it was time to change. The Eurolites I was using were rice bulbs, had a very dark blue tint to them, but the light produced was a nice pure white, which looked very good, not even ricey at all. Too bad they don't last long. So I decided to pay double, get something with a little more yellow to it, and a 1 year warranty! I picked these up from Canadian Tire for ~$60.

    Test Car: 2002 VW Golf.
    Headlamps: Hella E-Codes
    Bulbs: Sylvania Silverstars (H7)

(I apologise in advance for the pics being somewhat blurry, this camera I borrowed has a tiny lens, so no matter how still I hold it, it still blurs!)

Pic1: Camera on roof of car, showing spread.

    Pic2: In Parking Lot.

    Pic3: Again.

    Pic4: And another.

Pic5: Parked behind car with regular bulbs.

    Pic6: Zoomed.

    Pic7: And last one.

    Conclusion

Yes I am happy with them, mainly because of the 1 year warranty. I'm tired of having to replace bulbs so often! The camera in the pics somewhat exaggerated the whiteness of them, but for sure they are whiter than more cars on the road, but NOT as white as rice bulbs. Imagine those being even whiter. They do however put out alot of light onto the road at the same time! SO these I recommend. This is the perfect combo, nice light / color.

Good comparison pics! You can really see the difference in the shots behind the normal car.

my concept1 rice lights burned out tonight, so it was a scary ride home.

perhaps I'll have to put my stock bulbs back in till I can afford some silverstars!

Thanks for the pics and the review. I have been looking at these a Crappy Tire, and wondering what they look like. I think those will be my next bulbs.

I've been using the Silverstars for about 6 months now and love them. You really notice a difference when you get into someone's car that just has standard halogens. It seems like they are driving with just the DRLs and it makes you wanna tell them to turn their headlights on.

those look good bart.. when i put mine in 5 months ago i was like whoa! my yellow gross looking stock bulbs turned into bright white light.. I'm not sure if they give a HID appearance since they don't put out any blue..

Look sweets, I just am too cheap to buy any new bulbs until the existing ones burn out.

When your low beams fail, just use your high beams, they arent that obtrusive to people esp if lowered. I think high trucks and stuff are really blinding to me cause of the opposite reasoning.

i totally agree nick trucks blind the hell out of me now. the other day at a light i was next to a dodge diesel 1/2ton and my roof was at the bottom of his door seriously! i know like integras and stuff have a lower roofline than ours so that would be even funnier looking lol

quick question without hijacking.. when you lower your car should you reaim your lights up a bit?

Yeah, I know that feeling. Same can be said for winter tires vs all seasons.

Do they keep the Silverstars out on the shelves at Canadian Tire or do you have to ask at the parts counter. Whenever I look for them I can never seem to find them. I see other Sylvanias, but never the Silverstars.

They look nice, but sure are pricey when you have to replace 4 of them! Plus, I would want to do my fogs too so they all kinda match...
