  • Upsolute Intercooler

For those that don't know, Upsolute contracted Corky Bell to design a front mount intercooler for our cars. It works perfectly for both 1.8Ts and Tdi's and can be used with the stock piping or use the upgraded mandrel bent pipes.

    It will flow 400CFM

It does not alter the structual integrity of the front end, it does not require removal or replacement of the front bumper crossmember, unlike other kits.

The mounting brackets are very strong, it will not hang by the pipes, it will actually improve frontal integrity.

Inlet and outlet are on the same side, reducing pipe length considerably, this reduces pressure drop and lag. Most of the competing kits are too large, over kill and will reduce actual boost by 2 psi.

The increaced volume and added capacity will eliminate boost spike and
reduce smoke on TDi's. Highly recommended for those that have added larger
    injectors.

It uses a vertical core. this is a much better design for our application than a horizontal core.

Price for the Intercooler is $1100 CAD NO TAX
Price for the new pipes $420 CAD NO TAX
Price for the hoses and clamps $30 CAD NO TAX
    Or
Price for the complete kit $1500 CAD....NO TAX

Here you can see it actually *fits* behind the bumper, unlike some others

I suppose it is possible to use both but you probably wouldn't gain much past the FMIC as you start getting to much volume. Because you don't need to remove the old intercooler, he just left it there and installed the piping to the new intercooler.

I own this book if anyone wants to give it a read, pretty interesting read, but too technical for bathroom literature.
