As my roof rack is in pretty rough shape with scatches and all, i figured i would post up this easy little do it yourself for painting your roof rack. After i peeled the blue plasti dip off of it, i found that there was still a lot of yellow bits from when it was painted yellow in the summer. So i decided just to go with a matte black because i found a spray can in the garage while i was cleaning. Anyways here it is.
All i did was clean it thoroughly, and spray away. i have a pretty good feeling this stuff is going to chip easily so i might go get a clear coat or something to protect it little bit.
alright so step one: remove roof rack from vehicle if not already off.
step two: remove the four plastic cover's with the lock's off of the bars.
step three: with an alan key, remove the two screws on each side of the bars (there will be eight in total)
step four: with the screws removed, the bars should come free from the bases easily.
step five:clean and paint away.
step six: let it dry and then put the necessary hardware and such back in their rightful places.
step seven: put the roof rack back on the car and enjoy!
