  • APR Lockout

I bought my car from used from my local VW dealership. Looking under the hood I saw Carbonio intake. This got me wondering if the previous owner got a tune done. Long story I believe there is an APR tune on my car and I managed to lock the ECU. I have no idea who the previous owner is. Is there any way I can by bypass the ECU lock? The only thing I can think of is talking to my salesman to see if he can give me the name of the previous owner. If I can't get the name of the previous owner because of privacy issues does anybody have any idea what I can do?

Talk to Ryan (Mantis on the forums) He might be able to help.

Go to concept 1. They will get you the code, or reset it. Not sure if they will charge or not.

You could always call APR to see what they say. They might want proof that you own the car just to make sure it isn't stolen or something, but it's worth a shot.

APR will likely tell you to go to your local dealer...

Thanks for all the replies. I talked to Andrew at Concept 1, and he told me he can check out and if my car does indeed have an APR tune, and if it does he can transfer it over to me from the previous owner. I guess I am making a road trip to Calgary lol.

I emailed APR my VIN# and they confirmed my car has been flashed. Heading up to Calgary to get the software transferred to me on Feb 9th. I can't wait. I miss the boost the software makes!

Nice! Now get a downpipe put on while you're here and upgrade to stage 2... now THAT makes a huge difference!

I would love to get a downpipe. If I get one installed for a decen price in Medicine Hat before Feb 9th I will definitely be going stage 2 lol.

I would just do it at the same time in Calgary, not much going on in the Hat for performance VW parts.

If you don't find one, keep an eye on the classifieds here... I might be selling my whole stage 2 package in a few months.
