Volkswagen has introduced in Detroit the R-Line versions of the Tiguan and Touareg.
The Tiguan R-Line is based on the SEL version and adds bespoke 19-inch Mallory alloys with low-profile all-season tires. It has body-colored side skirts with a chrome trim, an R-Line rear spoiler, wheel arch extensions, bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs and a sports-tuned suspension.
The interior cabin receives a "metallic-finish" dash and door trim, aluminum sport pedals, stainless steel R-Line scuff plates, black headliner and a flat-bottomed R-Line multi-function steering wheel. The Tiguan R-Line is available with a 10-channel, 400-watt amplifier with a rear subwoofer and 8 speakers.
Volkswagen is selling the Tiguan R-Line with the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and in either FWD or 4Motion AWD configurations.
As for the Touareg, this is based on the Lux variant and is sold as standard with 4Motion and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It can be ordered with either a 3.6-liter VR6 gasoline engine or the more frugal 3.0-liter TDI Clean Diesel power unit. It also comes with a sport-tuned suspension, exclusive 20-inch alloys, LED taillights, new front bumper fascia and side skirts, along with oval dual exhaust tips.
The interior is enhanced with an R-Line steering wheel, aluminum sport pedals, stainless steel R-Line scuff plates and a high gloss / brushed aluminum trim for the center console, dashboard and doors.
No word about pricing but we do know both models are set to go on sale in the third quarter of 2013.
