  • Volkswagen Passat Performance Concept

Volkswagen is showing the production-ready Passat Performance Concept at 2013 NAIAS.

With this concept VW is announcing the arrival of the 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine from the EA888 family on U.S. land, an engine which is already available in Europe and Asia. This is an all-new TSI engine capable of outputting 250 hp (186 kW) and will replace the inline-five 2.5-liter mill in the United States. For this concept VW has connected the TSI to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

It doesn't look substantially different than the regular model we see on the streets, but we do notice a lowered sports suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels and a restyled front bumper that gets honeycomb inserts. The slightly updated front fascia also shows bi-xenon headlights, while at the back there are dual pipes for the exhaust and LED taillights.

The interior boasts two-tone leather upholstery, black headliner and carbon fiber-like inserts for the dashboard.

And this one is already lowered! Go take a look at a regular Passat and see its wheel gap! lol

Anyhow, I like it! I already liked the regular Passat, but the extra sporty-ness really completes the car IMO. I'd like to take one for a rip... 250HP from the new 1.8T? My 2.0T only made 200HP stock!
