I am looking at a 2004 v8 Touareg, what are you guys's thoughts on touaregs? Is the 4.2 engine the same as the A6 and is there anything in pertcular I should watch out for?

Honestly I'd rather buy something bigger if I were going the SUV route. They're decievingly small.Comment

Do a search for touareg transmission/valve body problems. They are also prone to have center bearing support failures where the support that hold up the drive shaft fails.
I was looking at touaregs of that generation and they have some major problems. I took one to 5th ave for a prepurchase inspection and just the parts o fix the tranny was $5K.
