  • Vag-com block 120 done!!

For the people that don't know on a 02+ car you can do a Vag-com block 120 data log that once put into excel and graphed can basically give you a dyno.

I would recommend 2 people in the car although I did it myself its just kinda hard try to drive and mouse at the same time but you start off slow so its not that bad.

I got it all up and running and from what i read on vortex you start at 1500 or 2000 in 3rd gear and floor it to redline then push in the clutch and coast and then click stop logging data. I stopped at 6500 exactly i probably could have gone a little higher.

I put down 193lbft TQ and 179 HP

Not bad for a only having an exhaust and CAI. I guess a chip would give the crazy torque numbers but i was really surprised

I also played around with my Gtech and did a 6.8 0-60.. i thought it wasn't too shabby i'll have to try 120s and the gtech with some of your guys cars to see what numbers we can get

    Overall a cool experience..gonna try a 120 again tommorow.

yea no problem guys i'm gonna give it a 3rd and 4th gear run tommorow to see if i can get better numbers.. its snowing pretty good here tonight so dunno if i can do it tommorow though.. at least out where i am now i can drive as fast as i want because cops don't exist.. only place to safely try these guys i would say is on crowchild west of bearspaw.. well i know al got a ticket there but i go 120 in there all the time and haven't seen a cop in 3 years now..

Actually Ryan, there are cops out there. My wife drives to Cochrane every morning to work and she says she's seen quite a few people pulled over along the 1A.

Thanks though, I will have to try this 120 thing once it clears up a bit more. It's coming down pretty good again. I hit some good puddles today too. 1 in Crowfoot that was fairly deep but I think it was OK with the clearance on my CAI. The filter is probably super filthy right now though.

I am pretty sure I read (a while ago now) that the block 120 thing isn't very accurate.

                  Re: Vag-com block 120 done!!

It can help you see if you are making an improvement. So do an average of 3 runs on block 120, then mod, then do it again.

However these are not really measurements of torque/horsepower. They are estimations calculated using parameters and constants that are no longer valid once you start to do any engine modifications. The more mods you do (the further you are from stock horsepower and torque) the less accurate they will be.

And in all cases it will be high (crank horsepower) not wheel horsepower since this is what the dealers/techies use.
