Wow, is VAG making it so that you can't disable traction control on all their new vehicles? What a joke that you can't disable it from the factory on the R! It's the first thing I do after I start my car

AFAIK the issue is only for US Golf R's, Canadian R's have the ability to disable ESP without modifications via Vag-com.

That is what I had heard as well, at least for the 2012s, not sure if 2013 has any difference.

I can confirm that ESC does turn off with a push of a button. That and the many donuts I've done. Allegedly.

This "feature" alone justifies the Cdn Golf R prices as compared to our neighbors to the South... This is the exception to the norm in that the Cdn version of the Golf R is better than what's available South of the border!

I noticed this in all the other current vw models. Thought it was a bit strange, especially in the GTI. Cant say I disable it in my passat that often, but the option is nice. I would imagine it will go that way though since ESP has become a required feature for CDN cars. Most other DOT required safety features don't have an off switch.

It's not a big deal anymore. Somebody on Vortex figured out Stage 2 disable.

The cool part is, we have a better in-dash system by default :-D
