  • 2007 GTI not making power

So I installed a battery heater last night and had to disconnect the battery to place it under the battery, reinstalled all the parts and left it over night. This morning fires up fine, the normal lights on the dash are lit up after a battery disconnect i.e. the yellow slip indicator for traction and the little steering wheel which both went off after about 200 meters of driving. The car was running perfect before I installed the heater. Have a code reader from Mac tools which usually shows codes but after about 20km of driving still no codes or anything just no power.

But now i have no power, the turbo doesn't spool up, its as if i am reaching the rev limiter at about 3500 RPM and it wont rev any higher. It won't rev above 3500 driving or just sitting in the garage.

Mods are a turbo back exhaust, REVO chip and cold air.

Has anyone else had the same issue or have any ideas where to start?

    Thanks

I have heard of this before

    Some things to check

Check turbo cut off valve - could be broken internally if old version
Check crankcase vent valve - while running try and remove oil cap (Should come off easily) . If you can't or it is difficult you need to replace this.
    Check HPFP

also try to get a read out of any pending codes also no more lights are on?

    Edit:

The above does cause the issues you have listed, however since it was running fine before I am maybe thinking that the ecu has reverted to a possible "fail safe mode" or stuck in valet mode

      Thanks Natty,

checked the oil cap and it comes off easily, and with the car running the car idles rough, so I imagine the valve should be good.

On another note, anyone one here have a Vag to get some codes in Fort Mac? I searched the Vag tread but no luck

Going to try and check the DV now

      Thanks

this is something that has to be reset at the dealership isn't it?

If you are off warranty, check out Neil at PugCity or Richard at Darsh/Dubsport for VW servicing in Edmonton.

No problem! Sorry about your luck! Could try giving them a shout on Monday and see if anyone has any insight cause it sounds like a common issue. and with norden being a dealer and revo dealer should be able to give you an answer
