  • MK4 Jetta headrest

So slowly but surely getting my new car up to speed on the random little maintenance things and whatnot. This is a weird problem though, its not a huge issue, but its somewhat annoying. The headrest button is gone and I cannot find a way to get it back down (its pull all the way up to the highest setting right now). I tried looking on Vwvortex and googled a bunch, but could not find any definitive way to get the headrest down with a missing button.

    Anyone have any tips?

You might have to take the cover off the seat and replace the guide itself. That is the only way i have found to do it

Fiddled with it a bunch, did some critical thinking and I got it down! So if anyone is googling this like I was, here's how i got it down:

i took a long narrow flathead and if you look to the very back of hole theres a black square/rectanglish shaped piece of plastic, I guess thats the locking mechanism on the guide. get the flathead above the black plastic (theres a bit of a gap) and push that mechanism down, and you should be able to push the head rest back down. VOILA!

Not a permanent fix i guess given that the button will still be missing, but at least my headrest isnt in an obnoxious position now
