  • In the market for getting low (need some advice)

So im looking for some coilovers or a cup kit. I know you pay for what you get but my budget is going to be under 1000 give or take. I also need something with good corrosion protection because iving in Canada there is 24/7 salt on the roads. The ones I have in mind are the FK Silverlines, Solowerks (just heard of them and they have a good warranty and might be good to try out), or a cup kit. Thanks erryone

I would definitely stay away from FK streetlines. They get very rusty and siezed very quickly.
Silverlines would be a good choice but i would still recommend anti-sieze on the threads and maybe some coilover covers.
Bilstein pss's ride fantastic but don't go super low. Full down would be about 1 finger gap on stock size tires which is usually good enough for most.

My best suggestion would be to check out Natty's pricing on the Bilstein PSS's

ive been using street lines for about 8 months and mine are still good lol. good thing is that they are cheap and go really low. ride seems fine to me, but this is my first set of coils.

I've got some used silverlines with a blown strut and they ride way better then concept1 coils (aka solowerks)

When winter hits (AKA now) you might want to PM scirockalot8v on vortex about some coilover covers so that the threads don't get all gritty with salt and mini rocks and dirt. That is what makes the coils hard to spin up/down in the springtime.

Wifes car. 03 Jetta has the race h&r cupkit on it and rides great -she's had no problem driving as a dailey 97 has konis with Eibachs rides great and dd it never had issues with its height during winter but I run good winters to help with the gravity issue .. haha ... Cupkits do ride better tho. depends if you want to raise for winter or not

Ya that was the cup kit I had in ind unless I get coils. Also one more thing on ECS when I was looking for some coils it said when you lower your car more than 1.4" you need to do something with the sway bar and some steering linkage or something. What does this mean and does it concern me? everything is stock suspension wise.

^^ I think in late 03 VW changed the swaybar to larger diameter "hoops" to clear the driveshafts better . I didnt have to change mine but a buddy with an early 03 had to.
