    Is the $19.50 for anything upto 500 or do you have to pay upfront for a full run of 500 calenders before they will begin production?

    What about making a deal with your sponsors? You could add some ad space (a small corner) on each month or do a back page with a directory of services maybe.

    Then you might be able to get the companies to cough up the cash if you gave the calendars away at WoW, or at least a big portion of whatever them members couldn't cover by ordering / paying in advance for how many they want.

    Just a couple of ideas...
    Hope you can find a way to get them done.

        Are you kidding me? You are telling me you went through the motions of promising a calendar and taking all of the pictures, without even knowing the price of printing them? What sponsors did you even have in the first place...what a let down

          Peter, this is not cool I took the pictures of the members cars, and the group shots and everything as a volunteer, took my time, my equipment, gas, creativity ect to do pictures for you and your club so you could have high quality, well done photos and you wouldn't have to hire someone or use someone's shitty 2.3 MP camera to try and have to try and blow them up to calendar size. I had been promised some form of recognition and this would be something to put into my portfolio for my clients..instead, this isn't even going to happen and none of it is gonna work out.

          I normally charge clients 50$ an hour for their photography. Let's see..Pat, Simon, You, Chris, Ian, all at appx an hour each plus the all day group trip...~6hrs...you want the 550$ bill Peter?

          And yeah, you say that we can still have them done, but who exactly is going to pay for this? I told you before, we are not going to have 500 people buying a calendar from a club that only has 100 or so members...who are the sponsors besides possibly 5th ave anyway?

          Sorry to everyone, I am not a mean person and I had a ton of fun taking all the pictures and meeting all of you, but I am just a little upset that this is really going to absolutely no good when I spent quite a few hours taking these pictures and making them good enough for Peter's high standards.

          Again, I'm sorry for the rant everyone, you are all awesome for reading this, but my work is my pride, my joy, my life and my living and this just goes to show what a lack of planning ahead will get you.

          I'd appreciate it Peter, If you didn't delete this post just to cover up your mistakes.

            Is WoW even happening this year for NVD??? Has anyone done the planning for it beyond "we should have a meeting?"

              I don't find Mel's post to be out of line at all..she was too nice. She spent her evenings, time and everything else on getting this together and you screwed her over. We all took our time out to make this happen and it was for none..This site doesn't even have sponsors.I should have guessed this wouls happen...I know some people called it long ago, and I tried not to believe em..guess they were right.

                First of all Peter, didn't you say you had sponsors to help with the costs.. what happened to them.. did they ever exist?

                Second of all, this was NVD's first major attempt at getting something like this going, (as far as i know), and looks like not much planning other than "Lets waste Mel's time by taking pictures and getting hopes up" was done. I doubt there will be a second attempt if your attitude remains.

                  K first off I’m not taking anyone’s side here, just sharing an opinion and making some suggestions!

                  It’s too bad this may not be happening. I was looking forward to getting one.

                  It seems like the timing might have been an issue... the first suggestion of the calendar was September 23, that leaves just over 3 months before Jan. 1st. I don’t really know much about making a calendar, but I assume that it would take a while, and I bet printing a calendar earlier in the year (for the next year) might even be cheaper?. It makes since to me, but who knows. It’s at least something to find out for.

                  As for the cash... 500 calendars 19.50 each, that’s $9750 up front. This might seem like a weird idea, but it might be worth a shot or at least a though. Here at the local mall there are these places (2 of them, one at each end of the mall) that sell only calendars. Not sure of the names (can find out if you want peter) but they are just stands that set up in the aisles of the mall. They are only there from October or so to the end of December, it might be a good idea to go to places and talk to people that might be interested in selling these. Think about how many places sell calendars. Who knows, maybe they would want 1000 or more if there good, then just order an extra 100 or however many you want. I know this might seem like a totally off the wall idea. But it might just be worth a shot? Well I guess it is Jan. 31... Making it for next year is an option right? Better late then never, plus then more time for planning and all the other things that are involved like copyrights, trademarks, barcodes, and imp sure threes more.

                  Mel, even though I wasn’t a part of the calendar I would like to say thanks for taking the time to do that, your a good person obviously, and you have a right to your rant. (PS I just added u to my msn list so I can get those pics from you . If it didn’t work mine is IBUYVWS@shaw.ca and yes it is @shaw.ca, everyone always asks!)

                  Peter, everyone makes mistakes. You’ve got a great thing going here with NVD.com. I’ve been a big fan since the first time I saw it, things have changed allot here (for the better), I mean look at the fu*'n site!! It rocks! Just take this as a learning experience. I think its important that you do something with these pics, since the calendar was the original plan it seems like the right thing to do, but if not the calendar, defiantly something! Good to see you say “The pictures that were taken by Melinda will be used, I can guarantee that.” She is owed that.

                  I just wanted to share my opinion on this. Hope everything works out and everyone is happy in the end.

                    Yes, they will. I, as well as the owners of the cars, have the rights to those pictures I took. I have been talking to a friend of mine and Pat's, a girl named Jessie and she would like to help us out. She knows a location where we can get these done so the two of us will do this project as a separate one from the NVD calendar.

                    We do not have plans for ordering a million calendars so we're stuck later when only 20 other people want them...we will take ONE order from people and we will get enough for that order. Unless otherwise told, I will be using all the pictures I have TAKEN in the calendar. For the ones we had sent in, I have no rights to those so you will need to let me know if you would want those used.

                    As for pricing, we aren't sure yet but the two of us are meeting on Thursday, Jan 6 to begin picture selection for each month...we have smaller numbers, so some cars may be used twice.

                    Please email me at mel_wednesday@hotmail.com or find me on MSN at the same email and let me know if you FORSURE want a calendar. Prices will be around 20$ each and there won't be any chances later to get another one. Get a couple if you want, tell others about it, no matter to me, we aren't making any money off of this. Yes, I will ship them out to you if you don't live in calgary since I know there are members who don't live here.

                    This project is a go. Unless Peter finds a new publisher within the next week or so, we will go ahead with this. Picture selection is on thursday and then the calendar will be made up after that so please let me know ahead of time what your desire is to see your car in there.

                    Thanks everyone, hope this makes up for everything! (And no, this is not being done so my pictures will be used, I have heard from quite a few of you that you are upset about this so we are putting this together because it is an easier alternative for everyone and a chance for those of you who have awesome cars that I did pictures of to have the hard work you've done shown for)
