Need to replace your battery?
Need to do this in a hurry because it's raining outside, it's -5C, you have no umbrella and you are late for an important job interview?
Then spare your self some agony and call your local towing company and a taxi, cause you aren't going away from here quickly!
If you have an hour then you can do this yourself.
If your Battery is like mine, it is stuck hard in there and you will have to remove the airbox to get it out. If your battery is easy, maybe you won't need to remove the airbox and battery back.
Follow these steps!
Unscrew airbox
(2x 10mm screws on each side)
Remove vacuum line
(pull on it gently)
Remove MAF clamp
(1x evil pinch clamp - watch your fingers)
Take Airbox out
(put it in your car so dust doesn't get in there)
Disconnect battery terminals from the clamps
(4x 10mm bolts, do the Negative FIRST)
Put new battery connector covers on old battery
(don't do this at your car's electrical risk)
Remove plastic covering the back of the headlights
(4x screws)
Remove Battery cover
(2x tabs)
Remove fused by corrosion bolt holding the battery down to the bottom tray
(1x 13mm bolt)
Remove the fuse box on top of the battery
(2x tabs)
Remove the plastic holding the fusebox wires to the battery surround
(2x tabs)
Remove the battery back by pulling the sides out and then pushing it backwards, it has hinges on the bottom along the battery tray
(2x tabs and a hinge)
Pull/push your battery towards the front of the car so the bottom edge slides out from under the tray edge.
That's it!
Just repeat backwards to reassemble. During the process it is acceptable to swear to the Ancient German gods of auto manufacturing why you need a mechanical degree to change a battery.
PS: Don't loose any of the screws or bolts!
