You can also get a high solids primer, and spray that first, sand it, and paint....I would use at least some enamel (like NAPA can mix up enamel in your colour, and its high gloss @$20 bux a can), it will match the gloss of the body panels best, and you can polish them...THe high solids primer is like a filler based primer, so rough sand the plastic to get good grip adhesion to the primer, and get a good base with it....Works wonders, used it all the time in the body shop....
