217HP stock or 227HP with the performance pack. They haven't bumped it up at all since the MK5 came out and now we're only getting 17 more HP? That's kinda disappointing. Either way, I won't be buying one. I think the front end would've looked good if they had kept the MK6 style stripe, but with it going through the headlight it just looks stupid IMO. As for the rear, I'm not too sure what it is about it that I don't like... I think it might just be too bland for my taste. I'd choose a MK7 Golf over the GTI for sure.

I like the added sharp lines of the new model, which I think is very apparent on the back with the C pillar and tails, and those head on shots make it look pretty aggressive. I think what is going to happen is you will see more variations of the GTI and thus a range of power and options; GTI, GTI w/ performance pack, GTI Carbon (light weight) and R.

Having seen the car in person I think the red stripe will be in the production version, the car appears very production ready. The strip does mark the boundary between the headlight and the turn signal as it is in the area below the stripe. The rest of the headlights look amazing to me and I think it will just come down to how they look with certain colours of car. I do however think the LED tails are not nearly as nice as the MK6 versions.
