Well, after much discussion with Rudy's Auto Refinishing & Collision as well as Blair, we now have a dedicated body and paint shop for NVD!
Background:
Rudy's Auto Refinishing & Collision is a small independently owned shop that's been in business here in Calgary ever since I was too young to drive a dub. The shop is owned and run by a couple named Fraser and Mary Lou. The painters that work there are certified to the highest level in the industry (although I can't remember what the name of the certification is called at the moment) which most shops cannot claim, and are extremely knowledgeable and talented at what they do. The shop prides itself on being a small, quality-based business that provides excellent work to its customers. They use a state of the art paint booth and techniques that alot of shops don't use. For example, all pieces are primed and dried using ultraviolet equipment instead of baking. They insist on air-drying parts in the booth, instead of baking them like other shops, in order to prevent shrinkage and damage to the finish. Baking parts is done by other shops only to move customers through faster and make more money. The materials used by the shop are top notch! Ultraviolet primers, imported European paints (not cheap PPG stuff), and high end clearcoats are always used. Rudy's has done all of my own family and friend's cars for years and they are the shop that painted and installed my Oettinger kit. Currently, they are installing components on my car, installing a 4mo valence and repairing Ozzie's car, as well as doing a reflex silver mk4 for another friend. We've all used them for some time now, and now they are willing to do work for NVD at great prices!
Arrangment for NVD:
The arrangement is that any NVD member can go to the shop and get a very low fixed rate to have paint and body work done. You MUST have an NVD card in order to get these prices. Otherwise, you will have to contact Blair or myself to verify membership. As of now, this is the breakdown for the NVD discounts on painting .....
Lower Valences (front or rear) - $150 ea
Sideskirts - $275 pair
Full front bumpers - $300 ea
Full rear bumpers - $300 ea
Bumper Covers (oettinger etc.) - $225 ea
Grills - $75 ea
Window spoilers - $100 ea
Trunk spoilers - $150 ea
Hoods - $275 top only/ $300 both sides
Complete Body Kits - Starting $900 painted AND installed
Custom Body work (ie. Boser hoods, shaving, etc) - 10% off shop hourly rate
Please note that these prices are for painting only (except for the full body kit price which includes installation). This probably works out fine though since most of us do our own installations anyways. The prices will of course include...
1) prep work for the part ie. sanding
2) primer and flex agents if applicable
3) 2 stage paint
4) clear coating
If there is any body work required for parts ie.dented fenders, then the price will obviously go up if the amount of prep work does.
If anyone has any questions or would like to have work done in the near future please let me know and I can probably help out. Otherwise, as of today, the shop now recognizes NVD and is ready to book you to help pimp out that ride
