Mk2 Jetta know it alls or know to get spark!?

Hey guys, I just got a Mk2 Jetta GTX 16v from a friend a week ago, it ran good, but died and now I can not get it to spark and start up. Ive tried everything my Bentley has told me to do, and everything so far checks out but still no spark. Wondering if anyone who knows anything about this engine could come by and help me get it started!? Im out of ideas haha.

What have you tried so far?

How is the Cap? Rotor?

Power @ the ignition coil?

Do you have spark coming from the coil - distributor?

Common fail point is the ignition control unit

Another thing I have seen is the wires break in the harness that connects to the distributor

I have checked the hall sender, distributer turns when cranking, new distributer and cap, new spark plugs, new ignition coil (also tried others), just put in a new Ignition controller unit, checked grounds, cleaned grounds, checked/cleaned connector knock box, havent checked power just yet for the knock box since just learnt it had one. Checked fuses, relays, connections behind fuses and relays, tried new ignition wires, now im kinda stuck and dont know where else to look.
Im getting fuel and compression for sure, just no spark.

When I had my 16v I took a razor and cut open the harness that connects to the distributor. Its like 3 wires in total 2 were broken.

Only thing I can think of really. Only other part would be the computer

Ill try another wire. I was thinking the ECU might be shot. Is there any way to check or just try another one from a 16v (if i can even find one haha).

Could the timing on these 16v engines effect the spark? I noticed it was off.

I checked those, and seem to be checking good. Could it be a bad ECU?

So I tried a new knock box, ignition switch, ecu and control unit and still nothing. Dont have a clue whats going on...

Checked the fuel injection relay #32 part # 357 906 381 if I remember correctly?

Try and push start the car. If it starts up, you have a bad ignition switch.
