wondering if anyone has ran into this issue before.

    2005 vw gti
    1.8t

took out the wornout stock dual mass flywheel and clutch and installed a Eurospec VR6 style single mass clutch.
after installing it, grinds like a motherf*cker going into reverse and also shifts into the other gears really stiff/hard.
when the car is shut off it slides into gear like butter, is only hard getting into gear when motor is running.

*was changed out by a vw master tech and he is even stumped.

this is the clutch/flywheel that was installed

    part number 2J4 198 CFL 28 SED

    thanks for any help

      Re: clutch issues

Ask said master tech if she/he inspected the shift fork during installation as a bent fork can cause the issues listed. Other notable points of interest include the shifter bushing condition, throwout bearing condition, gear oil used in the tranny, and how well the clutch was bled.

However from the sound of what you have described I would start with the shift linkage alignment. Most of the other issues listed would cause grinding in every gear.

        Re: clutch issues

My buddy had an issue where the center splines of his shifter linkage on the tranny was stripped right out. Might want to check that too.

          Re: clutch issues

i would say that the clutch isn't disengaging all the way ie: maybe the lever sits a bit closer to the motor than the stock one did and there isn't enough travel in the slave to allow this.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
